The Hyde Collection
161 Warren Street - Glens Falls, NY  (518) 792-1761.
These twelve prints drawn from The Hyde’s permanent collection chronicle how technological advances steered the course of the evolution of printmaking. The examples presented span this century of French printmaking and the variety of processes employed by both commercial and independent artists.

But when an ordinary humdrum workday becomes anything but, the stakes for who will get to tell their own story become higher than ever.

There will be nine performances beginning Friday night, November 2, 2018 at 7:30 pm running thru Sunday afternoon November 18, 2018 at 3 pm, Tickets are $18 ($10 for students with ID) and are available thru ACT’s website www.albanycivictheater.org or by calling 518-462-1297. November 2  LAURA ROTH & HUI COX
The Park Theater
14 Park Street - Glens Falls, NY
The popular jazz series is back!

LAURA ROTH, described as “the widely touring Vegas-style entertainer,” and the “show stopper, (New York Post)” who has performed one-woman shows before thousands at major casino hotels, resorts, gated communities and theaters throughout the East, is proud to announce her latest musical collaboration with HUI COX, the highly regarded producer, composer, Grammy nominee, and recipient of two grants for composition from the National Endowment for the Arts, who has toured the world and recorded with Cab Calloway, Odetta, Liza Minnelli, Melba Moore, Wilson Pickett, Stanley Turrentine, Richie Havens, The Temptations, The Four Tops, and many more of the greatest names in show business.

Although Laura and Hui have separately performed a variety of musical genre, they have each come home to their deepest musical love, jazz. In doing so, they are calling upon the works of Ella Fitzgerald, Cole Porter, Chaka Kahn, Chick Correa, Sting, Gershwin, and others. Such diversity is possible, they believe, because virtually any song played with a unique approach and freedom can become jazz. Laura will sing in this 90 minute concert and Hui will back Laura in special arrangements as he plays electric, acoustic, classical, MIDIed 7-string guitar, mandolin, and electric bass, from his lifetime collection of nearly thirty stringed instruments

November RED, WHITE & CHOCOLATE GALA
Boys & Girls Club Of Albany, NY
21 Delaware Avenue - Albany, NY
Rekindle your inner-child and join us for a night of enchanting mystery as the Renaissance Albany Hotel is transformed into a place of nostalgic adventure. The journey will be filled with revelations of future and past, mystifying entertainment and gambling on our Floor of Fortune. The only thing certain will be a memorable night, and of course, wine, whiskey and chocolate sampling.

This year is unique in that we are partnering with Troy Boys & Girls Clubs in an effort to maximize the impact of our donors investments. Our Club's have a strong history of sharing services and the money raised through this event will support the 600 teens we collectively serve each year.

This year we will be honoring our “2018 Community Impact Award” recipients, The Seymour Fox Foundation and St. Peter’s Health Partners. Their outstanding dedication, enthusiasm and hard work have led to tremendous growth within our club and the Capital Area community.

November 10 - December 30  MAKING HISTORY: NUREMBERG AND AUGSBURG CHRONICLES
The Hyde Collection
161 Warren Street - Glens Falls, NY  (518) 792-1761.
Created from 1493 to 1497, Nuremberg Chronicle retells the history of the world as it was believed at the time. The 600-page book was the most complex publication of its day, exploiting the new creation of the printing press to disseminate knowledge. With editions in Latin and German, the tome is illustrated with more than 1,800 woodcut images. In the years following release of Nuremberg Chronicle, an Augsburg, Germany, printer named Johann Schönsperger abridged the text, commissioned woodcuts largely copied from the earlier book, and released a smaller format, undercutting the price of the original and creating what could be argued to be among the earliest examples of theft of intellectual property. The Hyde also has a copy of the resulting Augsburg Chronicle, which will be included in the exhibition.

November 17  FLOATING WORLD: SKIDMORE DANCE PERFORMANCE
The Hyde Collection
161 Warren Street - Glens Falls, NY  (518) 792-1761.
Experience the exhibition of Ukiyo-e to Shin-Hanga: Japanese Woodcuts from the Syracuse University Art Collection guided by the Skidmore College Dance Department. Floating World presents a scrolling and traveling progression of choreographic episodes created by Debra J. Fernandez and Jason Ohlberg, inspired by and located within the layered contexts surrounding Ukiyo-e. Exploring the tensions that exist between the defining Buddhist concepts of sorrow and impermanence, and the sensory pleasures of the districts from which this art emerged, The Floating World is a non-narrative response to the philosophy and processes represented in the art of Ukiyo-e. Free for Hyde members, Skidmore College staff and students with ID; $15 for non-members. RSVP by contacting Kayla at 518-792-1761, ext. 310, or adminassist@hydecollection.org. Made possible by the Skidmore Community Arts Grant Program.

November 29 - December 2   FLYING PHOENIX QIGONG w/MASTER TERRY DUNN-21.5 NCCAOM CREDITS!
Eastover Estate And Retreat
430 East Street
- Lenox, MA (866) 264-5139

Flying Phoenix is a rare and powerful medical Qigong system created over 400 years ago by renowned Taost monk Feng Dao Deh. It is a complete Taoist monastic system comprised of standing and seated, stationary and moving postures that impart a wide range of salient health benefits. The 24 Flying Phoenix Postures/Meditations consist of (A) an easy-to-do esoteric breath-control formula that ignites a specific flow of Qi within the body; followed by (B) a meditation in repose or a serene moving meditation using repetitive natural movements that are done three times slower than typical Taichi practice. Easier to learn and practice than Taichi, its health benefits are tangible, profound, and more immediate.

Terence Dunn is an expert instructor of Chinese martial, yogic, and healing arts with more than 40 years of training. Since 1990, he has popularized Tai Chi Chuan, an authentic Qigong practice throughout America and Europe through his highly acclaimed Tai Chi for Health and Chi Kung For Health DVD programs. Educated at Yale College and the Harvard Business School, he wrote the first medical protocol in American medical history applying therapeutic Tai Chi and Qigong exercises to accelerate recovery from major surgeries. In 2000 and 2001, Terry became the first Tai Chi trainer in the NBA, training the Los Angeles Lakers during their second championship season.

"Because of the great interest in Qigong in the west, it is important to have bona fide teachings by bona fide teachers. Too often students wind up learning a little bit of this form and a little bit of another, while never learning any complete system. This series is a good example of a serious and gifted instructor who offers a complete system of healing qigong to the serious student." -- Solala Towler, Editor, The Empty Vessel -- Journal of Contemporary Taoism

"Just excellent. Terry's emersion in the subject is obvious. A pleasure and privilege to study with him." ----Dr.Gene M. Gudmundson, MT

"I can already feel the benefits and am inspired to do more. It can be a meaningful process in my life as long as I practice. I have very skilled tools to do that now." -Pat Nolan, Wabasha, MN

"Very Good. As a new comer to chi kung, I found the instruction very easy to follow and felt the effects immediately. Thank you so much for sharing your gift."- J. Lloyd Blackwell, ND

"Outstanding. On a scale of 1-10, I score it a 12+!! Extremely informative, practical and significantly energizing."- Dr. Gordon Mayfield, WI
