In 1948, Costa Rica dismantled their military establishment and intentionally cultivated security relationships with other nations through treaties, international laws, and international organizations. Free of the burden of military spending, they used the financial savings to invest in their people, creating strong public institutions including public higher education and universal health care. In short, Costa Ricans created a society committed to peace, solidarity, and international law. They have survived with safety and relative prosperity for over 65 years without a standing army. A Bold Peace details the events which shook the country to its foundations, culminating in the 1948 civil war and the decision to abolish the military. Over the decades, the Costa Rican model has survived several serious crises, but the current threats may be the most formidable of all.

Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served and a moderated discussion will follow. For more information call 518-766-2992. For directions: www.oldchathamquakers.org

Singing about bottomless heartache and cowboy philosophy, he’s here with a sprawling band for an intimate and uncensored show this fall. The Louisville folk duo The Other Years warms up the house.

Eastover Estate & Retreat Center
430 East Street - Lenox, MA  (866) 264-5139

Magnetic-Harmonic Vibrational Therapist, Jay Emmanuel, A.K., N.S.,V.M. shares powerful energy techniques that use the forces of sounds produced by the human voice in combination with Himalayan and Crystal Singing Bowls to activate the body’s natural self-healing response. Utilizing specific sounds and frequencies of vibrations together with “Parthonic Energy” and “Mind Energy in Action”, he helps re-establish the proper harmonic tones and frequencies within the subtle energy fields of the body - the Chakras, Etheric body, Auric energy field, and the physical body.

Jay believes everyone has a force within that can activate their “Natural Pharmacy”. This inner macrocosmic force, encoded in our DNA archives, can bring upon regeneration and the natural healing process of the entire biophysical, mental, energetic/etheric body. He is a Pranic Energy Therapist, Yoga, Qigong, Tai Chi and Reiki Practitoner as well. His book - The Healing Forces of Harmonic Sounds & Vibrations is available on Amazon.

Justin Timberlake
Man of the Woods Tour
Saturday, October 20th
Following the incredible success thus far of Justin Timberlake’s global The Man Of The Woods Tour, Live Nation has confirmed a new show in Albany, New York on October 20th, 2018. The Man of The Woods Tour kicked off last month and will visit multiple cities throughout North America before heading to Europe and the UK and then back to North America this fall.

At every U.S. stop on The Man Of The Woods Tour there will be a VIP Verizon Up section, putting customers up close and personal to the stage and JT. Verizon Up, the company's loyalty program, is all about thanking customers through everyday rewards and exclusive experiences, like getting closer to the artists they love - including Justin Timberlake.

“Forget about being a self-proclaimed ‘man of the woods.’ Justin Timberlake emerged as a man for all seasons...” – Chicago Tribune

…Timberlake made it as intimate as he could. He took advantage of a massive stage that included a catwalk that stretched the length of the floor and had a performance area surrounded by a bar for the select fans fortunate to buy a floor ticket. The catwalk, which was decorated with trees and holographic grass in reference to the tour’s namesake, provided Timberlake with an avenue to tour the arena while he belted out every song. At some point, nearly everyone in the arena felt like they were sitting just a few rows away from the stage, even if it was just for a few seconds at a time.” – Baltimore Post-Examiner

Ticket prices range from $53.50 - $254

They dropped a few hints this past weekend and now it is official… Metallica’s WorldWired Tour returns to North America this Fall! Following last summer's 25 date sold-out stadium run, this year Metallica is bringing the in-the-round production currently being seen in European arenas to the U.S. and Canada. Along the way they will be visiting 34 cities that they did not go to last year, and a few that they haven't been to in decades. About time, wouldn't you say?!

You are welcome to bring amps and drums BUT set up and break down is part of your 10 minutes. The host draws names from a bowl at 7:30. •Play Nice! We foster a diverse community that has a great time making art and helping one another get better. Excessive profanity, explicit sexual themes, and “humor” that unkindly targets a specific group undermines this goal. It is up to the discretion of the host to enforce the house standards.

Shape-shifting New England native Merrill Garbus a.k.a. tUnE-yArDs released her fourth record, I Can Feel You Creep Into My Private Life, this year, and it has been praised as “a sleek, radical evolution” (The New York Times). She is joined by 4AD labelmates U.S. Girls, who bring a raucous eight-piece band to perform their new album, In A Poem Unlimited — “a compulsively listenable tour de force that’s one of the best pop records of 2018 so far.” (GQ)
